WASHINGTON – According to a statement from a spokesperson, Sen. Michael Bennet is recovering after a “completely successful” surgery last weekend for prostate cancer.

The statement cites doctors who said he will not require any further treatment.

“Micahel and his family deeply appreciate the well wishes and support from Coloradans and others across the country, and he looks forward to returning to work after the recess,” the statement read.

Bennet said in a statement early this month that he was diagnosed in March. He said doctors detected the cancer early.

The Democrat had reportedly been considering running for his party’s nomination for president in the 2020 election. However, no official campaign announcement has been made.
