UPDATE: According to a statement from a spokesperson, Sen. Michael Bennet is recovering after a “completely successful” surgery for prostate cancer.
COLORADO – Colorado Senator Michael Bennet says he has prostate cancer.
The senator said it was detected early and his prognosis is good.
He said that during the upcoming Senate recess he will have surgery and return to work after a brief recovery period.
The Democrat has represented Colorado since 2009 and has been weighing a presidential run in 2020.
There is no word in his statement about if the diagnosis would impact his decision to run.
