RED MOUNTAIN PASS – According to CDOT, Red Mountain Pass “may open in approximately two weeks.”
State Patrol said CDOT crews are working 12-hour shifts around the clock to clear the snow and open the road.
On Sunday, March 10th, an avalanche covered Highway 550 through the pass leaving more than 60 feet of snow and debris on the roadway.
Highway 550 had already been closed for more than a week before the slide that left an amount of snow that CDOT described as “incredible and daunting.”
