The forecast today is calling for strong winds, low humidity, and hot air for this time of year. All these factors together are bringing very high fire danger across the region today, with widespread Red Flag Warnings in effect across the region. The strongest wind gusts will occur along and west of I-25, mainly in and around the big mountain passes.
Overnight temperatures will fall into the 30s, so we recommend clearing out your sprinklers and swamp coolers today as a precaution.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High: 82; Low: 35. Sunny and hot for this time of year with strong daytime winds. The heat record today is 84. A strong cold front will hit Colorado Springs at the end of the day and drop temperatures into the mid-30s by tomorrow morning.
PUEBLO: High: 89; Low: 38. Sunny with hot daytime temperatures and a heat record today of 90 degrees. The winds will be strong and gusty during the daytime hours, followed by a cold front in the early evening. Temperatures will drop into the mid to upper 30s by tomorrow morning.
CANON CITY: High: 84; Low: 41. Sunny with strong and gusty winds during the daytime hours along with warmer than average temps for this time of year. A cold front at the end of the day will drop lows into the 40s overnight.
WOODLAND PARK: High: 71; Low: 30. Sunny with high fire danger and strong winds through the afternoon. Wind gusts could be as high as 40 to 50 mph through Teller County, especially in and around Pikes Peak. Overnight temperatures will fall down to freezing behind a cold front at the end of the day.
TRI-LAKES: High: 70s; Low: 20s. Sunny and very warm for mid-October with gusty daytime winds. The winds will be strongest in the afternoon, but a strong cold front at the end of the day will still sweep strong gusts over Monument Hill. Temperatures will freeze overnight, so clear out your sprinklers today.
PLAINS: High: 80s/90s; Low: 30s. Sunny and very hot for this time of year with strong and gusty winds in the afternoon.

Extended Outlook:
Highs on Thursday will be in the 50s and low 60s with much lighter daytime winds. We'll see a deep freeze on Thursday night/Friday morning with widespread lows in the 20s. The weekend looks mild and dry with high fire danger on Saturday. There is still no rain or snow in sight.
