Today’s Forecast:
We're replacing thunderstorms with HEAT across most of the plains today! Drier air will make it feel a bit more comfortable out there, but it'll allow us to warm quickly into the 90s and even a few triple digits across the lower elevations. There will be scattered storms in the mountains today, but there still could be a few showers and storms that move into the I-25 corridor at the end of the day.
COLORADO SPRINGS: High: 91; Low: 62. Hot and dry in the afternoon but with a small chance for showers and thunderstorms from 6 to 8 pm this evening. The air is so dry that we're more likely to see strong gusty winds and maybe a few sprinkles over a heavy rain.
PUEBLO: High: 98; Low: 64. Very hot and dry during the day today with only a small chance for a stray shower or thunderstorms after 6 pm. Like Colorado Springs, the air is so dry that we're more likely to see strong gusty winds and maybe a few sprinkles over a heavy rain.
CANON CITY: High: 94; Low: 66. Very hot today with a small chance for scattered and isolated showers and thunderstorms from the afternoon to the evening hours. Dry air will make it tough for much rain to hit the ground, but we could still see a brief heavy shower.
WOODLAND PARK: High: 81; Low: 54. Warm with scattered mid to late afternoon showers and thunderstorms possible. Severe weather is not expected today.
TRI-LAKES: High: 80s; Low: 50s. Hot and likely dry during most of the day, but late afternoon or early evening spotty showers are still possible, just not overly likely.
PLAINS: High: 90/100s; Low: 60s. Very hot and dry today with a gusty breezy in the afternoon and strong sunshine.
WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High: 90s; Low: 60s. Hot and dry with gusty winds at times. A stray shower or thunderstorm could form east of Trinidad along the Raton Mesa in Las Animas County, but Walsenburg to Trinidad will likely stay dry today with most of the rain staying out west in the mountains.
Extended Outlook:
Saturday looks very similar to today with most of the rain staying out west in the mountains and only a few showers and thunderstorms moving into the I-25 corridor. We'll see heavier rain and more widespread thunderstorms on Sunday, with plenty of rain chances lingering into early next week.
