An air quality alert is in effect for the eastern plains and portion of the I-25 corridor until Friday morning due to smoke. In the News 5 viewing area this includes the counties of Teller, El Paso, Pueblo, Custer, Fremont, Crowley, Otero, Bent, Prowers, and Baca counties.

The smoke will lift higher into the atmosphere later, leaving the haze around while surface air quality improves.
COLORADO SPRINGS: High: 82; Low: 50. Hazy today with warm weather, well above average.
PUEBLO: High: 86; Low: 51. Warm and dry today with hazy conditions.
CANON CITY: High: 84; Low: 50. Remaining hazy and dry today with warm temperatures.
WOODLAND PARK: High: 73; Low: 45. Hazy conditions remain in the afternoon with a comfortable day temperature-wise.
TRI-LAKES: High: 70s; Low: 40s. Upper 70s today with hazy conditions. Upper 40s tonight.
PLAINS: High: 80s; Low: 40s/50s. Upper 80s today with the haze lingering. Overnight upper 40s and low 50s.
WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High: 80s; Low: 40s/50s. Warm today in the low 80s with just a slight haze outside. Tonight upper 40s and low 50s.
Extended Outlook:
Friday will start with smoke in the region, but begin to clear out at the wind direction in the upper atmosphere shifts heading into the weekend. This will improve air quality this weekend, with temperatures warming up to 10 degrees above average.
