Today’s Forecast:
A cold front this morning will work to drop high temperatures today about 10 degrees compared to Thursday. The winds will be strong at times, especially in the morning and then again at the end of the day. Moisture behind the cold front is going to be pushed into the mountains, aiding storm development in the afternoon. Thunderstorms should hop out of the mountains mainly after 5 pm, some of which could be on the strong side with heavier rain, lightning, and even some hail.
COLORADO SPRINGS: High - 83; Low - 58. Warm and windy today with strong storms from the end of the day through the evening. Severe storm threats include heavy rain, lots of lightning, and quarter size hail.
PUEBLO: High - 91; Low - 61. Hot and breezy today with strong storms at the end of the day through the evening. Storms coming out of Fremont County through Pueblo could be strong, and possibly severe with heavy rain, lots of lightning, and nickel size hail. Quarter size hail is a small possibility, but still something to watch for.
CANON CITY: High - 89; Low - 63. Very warm and windy today with strong storms from the end of the day through the evening. Storm threats include heavy rain, lots of lightning, and nickel size hail. Quarter size hail is a small possibility, but still something to watch for.
WOODLAND PARK: High - 76; Low - 52. Warm with strong storms from the late afternoon and early evening. Severe weather is possible with heavy rain, lots of lightning, and quarter sized hail all possible.
TRI-LAKES: High - 70s; Low - 50s. Warm with strong storms from the end of the day through the evening. Severe weather threats include heavy rain, lots of lightning, and quarter sized hail all possible.
PLAINS: High - 90s; Low - 60s. Hot and breezy across the plains with strong storms this evening. Storms will be strongest in the I-25 corridor, generally losing strength as they push east away from Pueblo and El Paso Counties. Storms could still be strong with heavy rain, lightning, and small hail.
WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High - 80s; Low - 50s. Warm and breezy today with strong storms coming out of the mountains from the end of the day to the early evening. There could be isolated flooding near the Spring burn scar, and lots of lightning with small hail near Walsenburg and Trinidad.
Extended Outlook:
Storm chances stay strong from Saturday into Sunday, with both days looking at the afternoons for storm timing. Storms could be on the strong side both days, with the better chance for severe weather happening on Sunday. Sunny and dry skies return next week.
