Today’s Forecast:
Most of southern Colorado is going to be windy and about 10 degrees cooler today. The winds will come in out of the north to northeast this afternoon blowing between 15 to 30 mph, with a few gusts between 30 to 40 mph likely out east of I-25. There could be a few thunderstorms that try and form at the end of the day along the eastern mountains and I-25 corridor, but that chance remains pretty low.
COLORADO SPRINGS: High: 83; Low: 55. Cooler and windy today with lots of sunshine. There is a small chance for thunderstorms between 6 to 8 pm tonight with gusty winds and lighting as the main two threats.
PUEBLO: High: 90; Low: 59. Still pretty warm out there and windy through the afternoon with a good chance the city stays dry today and tonight.
CANON CITY: High: 88; Low: 60. Warm and breezy outside with mostly dry conditions expected.
WOODLAND PARK: High: 70; Low: 49. Windy and mild today with a small chance for an isolated thunderstorm from 6 to 7 pm tonight. If we do see storms in the area, it's more likely they would develop north or east of town and move into El Paso County.
TRI-LAKES: High: 70s; Low: 50s. Very windy and cool at times today with a chance for thunderstorms with strong gusty outflow and lightning between 6 to 8 pm.
PLAINS: High: 80s; Low: 60s. Dry, warm, and very windy today with widespread gusts between 30 to 45 mph possible, especially along and north of Highway 50. There is a chance for spotty storms north of Kiowa county late today.
WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High: 80s; Low: 50s. Warm and windy today with a small chance for thunderstorms to form off the mountains just west of Walsenburg and Trinidad to then drift into or by both towns this evening, probably between 8 to 10 pm. Gusty winds and lightning are more likely than much rain.
Extended Outlook:
Friday and Saturday look hotter and breezy with mainly dry skies on both days. The next best chance for rain comes on Sunday and Monday with highs back in the mid to low 80s.
