Today’s Forecast:
A cold front pushed very strong winds over the Palmer Divide early this morning with gusts between 30 to 40 mph from El Paso and Pueblo counties, as well as the plains to the east. The winds will generally get lighter through the afternoon with a chance for light rain returning in the late day and early evening. Rain chances are pretty slim for most areas, but the southern mountains and the I-25 corridor from Colorado city to Trinidad stand the best chance of seeing a couple of late day showers. A few models are trying to put showers in Colorado Springs but dry air over the city will probably keep most of the rain later today over the mountains west of town.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High – 66; Low – 43. Windy through the morning with a stray shower possible late today on the south side of town, although it’s much more likely any rain will stay in the mountains west of town.

PUEBLO: High – 72; Low – 45.  Very windy in the morning with lighter winds through the afternoon and dry skies all day.

CANON CITY: High – 69; Low – 45. Breezy in the morning with dry skies all day and night.

WOODLAND PARK: High – 58; Low – 37. Breezy in the morning with isolated showers in eastern and southern Teller County, mainly out over the mountains.

TRI-LAKES: High – 50s; Low – 30s. Windy through the morning but with lighter winds in the afternoon and likely dry all day and evening.

PLAINS: High – 70s; Low – 40s. Very windy through the morning with lighter winds through the afternoon. Dry skies are expected for all areas east of El Paso and Pueblo County, but a few showers may push into eastern Las Animas County.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High – 60s; Low – 40s. Windy and dry in the morning but scattered afternoon and early evening showers or weak thunderstorms are possible. Coverage will be pretty spotty and not everyone will see rain, but those that do should expect light, quick-moving rain.

EXTENDED OUTLOOK:
Rain chances are much better on Friday with warmer air leading to scattered showers and thunderstorms over the mountains that would try and move east into the I-25 corridor. Colorado Springs stands a better chance of seeing rain than say Canon City and Pueblo tomorrow, but any moisture that falls would be welcome. The weekend looks pretty dry and warm with cooler and better rain chances by early next week.
