Chilly with big winds this afternoon

Today’s Forecast:
Cold air has settled into southern Colorado with a rough morning of people waking up in the teens earlier today! We will see a quick warm up but as we get into the afternoon, cold air from the north will start to cool things down by the evening. The winds will get very gusty later today with gusts into the 30 mph and even at times, 40 mph range from the north and northwest. Tonight the winds will die down and lows will fall back to the lower teens.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High – 42; Low – 16. Chilly, especially in the afternoon wind 40 mph wind gusts.

PUEBLO: High – 48; Low – 13. Warm in the early afternoon with wind gusts into the 40 mph range.

CANON CITY: High – 44; Low – 18. Mild and windy later today with wind gusts in the 30 and 40 mph range.

WOODLAND PARK: High – 30; Low – 11. Cold and windy later today with wind gusts in the 30 mph range.

TRI-LAKES: High – 30s; Low – 10s. Cold and windy later today with wind gusts in the 30 to 40 mph range.

PLAINS: High – 40s; Low – 10s. Warm in the early afternoon with wind gusts into the 40, almost 50 mph range.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High – 40s; Low – 20s. Mild and windy with winds in the 30 mph range.


EXTENDED OUTLOOK:
The winds die down tonight and stay much lighter through Tuesday. Highs will start to climb tomorrow and peak by Thursday with temperatures back into the 60s by Thursday! The winds will be VERY strong by Wednesday and Thursday, blowing dust around and elevating fire danger. Rain and snow chances start to return to the forecast by the end of the week.
