The weather looks great today, and some of you woke up to a VERY mild morning! Colorado Springs started off in the upper 40s at 5 am this morning and with the help of some down sloping wind, we’ll see the upper 50s by the end of the day! The big story for southern Colorado is the nice warm up despite heavy cloud cover at times. Very dry air and down slope winds will be a big temperature driver today, but we’ll still see occasional helpful sunshine.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High – 50s; Low – 20s. Partly cloudy skies with a steady wind and nice high temps.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK:
A big system is on the way for Wednesday night, and it’s going to back light snow with A LOT of wind. Honestly, the wind is the biggest weather impact to southern Colorado, since the precipitation looks so light. Light rain would fall first as temperatures cool into the night from our mild high temperatures tomorrow. We’ll get a switch to snow generally after 10 pm, but with how warm the roads will be, I really doubt we’ll see much if anything really stick to the road ways by Thursday morning. Visibility could be quite low at times as the winds will be blowing with gusts up to 50 mph. Be sure and put anything away that could blow around after you eat dinner, we’re expecting winds to be gusting strongest from 10 pm through 3 am.
