Tonight’s Forecast:
First, let me put this out there. For many of us, you should expect sunny mornings and storms in the afternoons, nearly daily all this coming week. Temps will definitely be hottest Sunday, and then, significantly cooler all of next week. That’s the short story.
The longer story is, there is a weak stationary front draped across the northwest third of the State. It is getting caught in the upper level winds now, and will drift across our area here in the next 24-36 hours. That means, increased storm chances. In addition, there is a cool front racing out of Canada, which will arrive early Monday. So, these focusing mechanisms mean cooler temps, but also, a prudent meteorologist must increase the storm chances. A prolonged upslope flow Monday & Tuesday keeps it cooler, more humid, with storm risks high through Wednesday. Then, they gradually diminish into Saturday.
One other note; while storms have formed over the mountains the past few days, in this weeks’ cases, they will form overhead…and meander around. And, they become less likely, quicker, the further south you are, starting with Canon City, southward.
