Weather Alert Day: Dangerous Winds And High Fire Conditions

Today’s Forecast:
A High Wind and Red Flag Warnings are in effect for most of southern Colorado this morning into the evening due to very strong winds today. We’ve already seen damaging gusts down by Walsenburg this morning along I-25 with high wind restrictions in place from Colorado City down to New Mexico. Wind gusts today from Pueblo and south to Trinidad will gust to 60 mph but from Pueblo to Colorado Springs the winds will most likely gust from 50 to 55 mph. Temperatures will be warmest today around 1 to 2pm with steady and cooling temperatures into the end of the afternoon as a front starts to move in.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High – 64; Low – 29. Very strong winds today with gusts up to 50 mph. Winds die down tonight and temps drop around freezing.

PUEBLO: High – 72; Low – 28. Very strong winds today with gusts up to 55 mph. Winds die down tonight and temps drop around freezing.

CANON CITY: High – 69; Low – 32. Very strong winds today with gusts up to 60 mph. Winds die down tonight and temps drop around freezing.

WOODLAND PARK: High – 52; Low – 20. Strong winds today with gusts up to 45 mph. Winds die down tonight and temps drop below freezing.

TRI-LAKES: High – 50s; Low – 20s. Very strong winds today with gusts up to 50 mph. Winds die down tonight and temps drop below freezing.

PLAINS: High – 70s/80s; Low – 20s/30s. Very strong winds today with gusts up to 65 mph. Winds die down tonight and temps drop around freezing.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High – 60s/70s; Low – 20s. Very strong winds today with gusts up to 65 mph. Winds die down tonight and temps drop below freezing.


WEEKEND OUTLOOK OR NEXT WEATHER MAKER
Heavy rain is coming with a cut off low by Friday and that moisture will stick around through Saturday. Friday night rain will turn to snow across northern El Paso and Teller counties with more snow at the higher elevations of the Wet and Sangre De Cristo mountains. There could be some stronger storms that pop Friday afternoon, especially across the plains, but by Sunday we’ll be dry with lighter winds.
