Friday Football Fever Play of the Night

and last updated

Here on Friday Football Fever we show you our picks of the three best plays of the night, then you vote! We'll announce the winner on Monday night in News5 at 6 p.m.

Our first play of the night comes from the 4A state title game as Palmer Ridge is down big in the 3rd quarter. Luke McCallister, the senior Colorado State University commit, throwing it up to Marcellus Reed and the senior mossing the defender for the touchdown. That would be the only Bears score of the night.

Our second play of the night comes from the 2A title game as Lamar Savage quarterback Zane Rankin played his tail off all night by making throws like this, across his body downfield to Blake Buxton for six. Lamar comes up short for the state title 28-21, but earns this great play of the night nomination.

And they also earn the feel-good story of the year for play #3 as the Savages Were playing for Zeus this year. As in Jesus Gonzalez, the senior out due to a rare blood disease, but always there in spirit. Before the 2A title game, the team handing his #26 jersey to him in the stands. A bond that goes well beyond the football field.
