We’ll call this week the calm before the storm. League play begins next week and that’s when teams can turn their season around and make a playoff run.

GAME OF THE WEEK: Legend (3-2) vs. Fountain-Fort Carson (2-3) – Time for the Trojans to get their first home win, right?? FFC took care of business with a big 58-14 road win vs. Overland last week and now they have some momentum headed to Friday night. FFC’s two home losses have come at the hands of Eaglecrest and Columbine, both contenders for the 5A state title so there’s solace in there, right? Good news for Trojans – Legend is coming off a 42-21 loss to Castle View last Friday. We’ll see how well Jake Novotny’s team does on The Fever.

Harrison (4-0) vs. Pueblo County (2-2): Can the Panthers make it 5-0? We’ll find out Friday night outside Pueblo. Harrison moved up the #5 spot in the 3A rankings after their win over Pueblo Central last week. Likely not a lot of movement in the rankings up or down so a win will keep the Panthers in lock step as league play begins next week.

La Junta (4-0) vs. Woodland Park (0-4): The top team in 2A will take their game up into the mountains Friday night against winless Woodland Park. It will be hard for the Panthers to keep up with the Tigers offense, even at home in altitude.

Mesa Ridge (2-2) vs. Canon City (0-4): Can the Tigers get their first win of the season – at home or on the road? They’ve got a challenge ahead of them in Mesa Ridge, winners of two straight and coming off a 27-point shutout vs. rival Widefield. The Grizzlies look like they’ve found form ahead of league play next week.

Palmer (1-3) vs. Air Academy (3-1): Three wins in a row for the Kadets headed into this game, and their defense is rounding into form. They’ve given up 27 points over the last three games, including a shutout win vs. Cheyenne Mountain. Kadets back home Friday night, so let’s see if the offense can match them too.

OTHER GAMES:

Sand Creek vs. Pueblo Central

TCA vs. Lamar

Cheyenne Mountain vs. Widefield

Vista Ridge vs. Ponderosa
