COLORADO SPRINGS – Following months of anticipation, fan suggestions, and a fan vote, none of it mattered.
The minor league baseball team formerly known as the Sky Sox announced Monday that they will now be the “Rocky Mountain Vibes.”
The “Rocky Mountain Vibes” was not one of the five finalists submitted and voted on by fans. Those options were:
- Colorado Springs Happy Campers
- Colorado Springs Lamb Chops
- Colorado Springs Punchy Pikas
- Colorado Springs Throttle Jockeys
- Rocky Mountain Oysters
As it turned out, none of those options were the final choice.
Along with the name change, the team is rolling out new logos, colors, and merchandise Monday as well.
The new team will be the Rookie-Advanced affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. The 2018 season was the final season the Sky Sox will play as an AAA affiliate.
The Sky Sox used to be an affiliate of the Colorado Rockies from 1993 to the 2014 season.
