2020 NHL Stadium Series coming to Falcon Stadium

COLORADO SPRINGS — Thursday afternoon at Falcon Stadium, the NHL announced the 2020 Stadium Series would be making its way to Colorado Springs.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, Colorado Avalanche Executive Vice President/General Manager Joe Sakic, Los Angeles Kings President Luc Robitille, Mayor John Suthers and Air Force Athletic Director Nathan Pine were all in attendance to celebrate a great day for the league and city.

"I speak for the entire Air Force community when I say I'm looking forward to welcoming you back in February to drop the puck," Pine said.

The Colorado Avalanche will host the Los Angeles Kings in their second game of this series. The first coming at Coors Field in 2016, a 5-3 win over the San Jose Sharks.

"This is going to be an incredible spectacle. a great celebration of the sport in one of the great hockey towns in the world," Bettman said. "Most of all an incredible game between two great teams."

The showdown will take place on Feb. 15th 2020 with tickets going on sale Friday at 10 a.m. on ticketmaster.com.

"Its been circled for a long time," Sakic said. "There are games before it but it's the one game every player looks forward to and we're excited to put on a great show."

The game on February 15th will be the 30th NHL game played outside, as well as the 2nd NHL game played at a U.S. Service Academy.

The game will be broadcast at 6 p.m. MST on KOAA.
