Big bang moment?
Lightning in a bottle?
Not for Brittney White.
Her skill and talent on the lacrosse field came from hard work.
“You know…. there was never a single moment where I was like, ‘I’m amazing at this!'” White said. “I think it just kind of gradually happened and as I went to camp. So I got a little bit better each and every time and, here I am.”
The rest of the state has taken notice of her talent. White leads Pine Creek on the field to a No. 8 ranking at 8-1 on the season and 46 goals through nine games, so far.
“I kind of like driving into (the goal) when I get those calls in the 8-meter arc,” she said. “I like starting off with the draw and knowing that I can get that good shot off right there, that’s amazing.”
White said she picked up a lacrosse stick after she outgrew gymnastics and she has been in love ever since. She’s headed to Lee University next season on lacrosse scholarship but not before she and the rest of the Eagles go for a state title.
“We’ve only made it to the second round of the playoffs so this year the goal is to make it farther than that, which I know we can,” White said. “We have a really strong team this year and we got some great girls and I’m excited to see how far we go.”
