WIDEFIELD — Officials with Widefield School District 3 announced August 11 a new change to the start of the school year. The first full day of school will still be on August 24, but only students in Pre-K to 5th grade will be there for in-person learning. Older students will start the year remotely with the intent of getting back into classrooms by September.
The latest change came about following a meeting of local superintendents with the El Paso County Public Health. Harrison D2 and Academy D20 made similar changes on Tuesday. D49 decided to go all remote for the time being.
Widefield D3 officials are asking everyone in El Paso County and the district to "do our part to help ensure that students can be in school safely."
