COLORADO SPRINGS — There's no arguing that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed a massive portion of our daily lives.

In the midst of these changes, many local businesses are finding ways to overcome and adapt to keep their doors open, while at the same time, help those around them.

Similarly, businesses hit hard are reporting a tremendous outpouring of support from the community.

This outpouring reminding all of us that while this global epidemic has changed so much, it HASN'T changed people's desire for community.

This is We're Open Colorado, a segment dedicated to highlighting local businesses that are still open and finding unique ways to serve the community.

With all of this in mind, let's take a look at the Viewhouse, which is working to donate 200 meals every single day to essential organizations throughout the Colorado Springs, Denver, Centennial, and Littleton areas.

Each of the Viewhouse's four locations donate 50 meals each day in addition to continuing to offer to-go curbside pickup, delivery options and off-site catering.

"Well, one of our mission statements at Viewhouse is to support local," stated Jennifer Ruppert Viewhouse marketing director, "that's what we're all about. I mean, everything from sourcing local foods, to giving back to local organizations, that's something we've done from day one. So it's no different than what we do on a day to day basis, it's just on a larger scale. So, I think we're just continuing to stick true to our roots."

To date, the campaign has supported 34 different organizations and donated more than 1,400 meals.

“Being community-focused has been at the forefront of our mission from day one. In addition to the produce we’ve donated to our staff and their families, we are dedicated to giving back to organizations on the front lines through our 200 Meals a Day pledge,” said Vice President, Brad Mankse. “Times are undoubtedly tough for everyone right now and it’s circumstances like these when coming together is so important and we are committed to doing that with the food we have on hand,” said Manske.
