COLORADO SPRINGS — There's no arguing that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed a massive portion of our daily lives.
In the midst of these changes, many local businesses are finding ways to overcome and adapt to keep their doors open, while at the same time, help those around them.
Similarly, businesses hit hard are reporting a tremendous outpouring of support from the community.
This outpouring reminding all of us that while this global epidemic has changed so much, it HASN'T changed people's desire for community.
This is We're Open Colorado, a segment dedicated to highlighting local businesses that are still open and finding unique ways to serve the community.
With all of this in mind, let's take a look at the month-old Boz Marketplace and Cafe, an offshoot of Boz Catering Kitchen that opened three years ago.
In the middle of all the turmoil stirred up by COVID-19, the brand new business is struggling but still choosing to support the Colorado Springs community by creating free sack lunches for students all week long.
Eric Stewart, owner and chief chef, told KOAA that he just really wanted to give back to a community that has supported him over the past three years.
Without the foot traffic and business that was expected, Stewart was left with an enormous amount of product that needed to be used.
He and his team plan to make an abundance of the ready-to-go meals for students, and whatever is not picked up will go to an organization that aids those without homes.
Boz Marketplace and Cafe is currently open and taking orders while the catering side has shut down until this crisis passes.
