COLORADO SPRINGS — A new study suggests Colorado Springs is one of the best places to find a job in 2021.
The website wallet hub recently ranked Colorado Springs the ninth best city in the country to find a job in 2021.
“It’s great to know that there’s people taking a look at data and giving feedback,” said Cecilia Harry, Chief Economic Development Officer for the Colorado Springs Chamber and EDC.
She will tell you--it took a lot of hard work to get here.
“That’s because of efforts we intentionally made as a community,” Harry said.
A collective sales pitch--to let employers know our region is open for business.
“So that businesses that are already located here choose to expand here when the time comes,” She said. “And that companies that are looking for a new location choose to locate here.”
On tap for 2021 will be a mix of both of those components.
Sporting goods retailer Scheels--a newcomer to town--will bring between 300 and 400 jobs online when its store opens in March.
In-n-out Burger, which brought hundreds of jobs online in 2020 with its distribution center and first restaurant--plans to add to that in 2021, eyeing the site of a former Outback Steakhouse near Powers and Constitution for a second restaurant.
And it’s really hard to miss the nearly four million square foot elephant in the room.
Amazon, which already has a facility near the airport, will bring over a thousand jobs online this year when it’s new fulfillment center in Colorado Springs will likely become the state’s largest building.
“People in this region being able to bring those facilities to life, and either produce product or get product out the doors in those facilities is coming and we’re very excited to see that,” Harry said.
