A newborn has tested positive for coronavirus one day after the baby was born, Chinese outlet Xinhua reported.

Xinhua said that the baby tested positive for the coronavirus on Monday, just 30 hours after being born. The baby was born in a hospital in Wuhan, which is the city that has been ground zero for the virus.

The baby is the youngest person with a confirmed case of the coronavirus.

The virus has claimed the lives of 563, many of those in Wuhan.

Experts told Xinhua that the mother may have transmitted the disease to the child.

The newborn is reportedly in stable condition and is being monitored.
