PUEBLO — Election officials in Pueblo County said Thursday the voter service and polling centers will not be open for the May 5 special election for safety reasons regarding COVID-19.
Instead, all registered voters must mail in or drop off their ballot, and to ensure your vote counts it's important to check that your registration information is up-to-date at the Colorado Secretary of State's website.
Pueblo County Clerk and Recorder Gilbert Ortiz said he expects a big turnout.
"Especially with the hot button issue that is the Black Hills question, the 2A question in the city, we are actually expecting to see more ballots in this election than previous special elections," Ortiz said.
Election officials set up a drive-up tent to help those who don't receive a ballot, or who need a new one.
