DISTRICT 5 — In the race for Colorado's 5th Congressional District, the Associated Press is projecting that Republican incumbent Doug Lamborn has defeated Democrat Jillian Freeland.

The district includes El Paso County, Teller County, Fremont County, Chaffee County, and portions of Park County.

Rep. Lamborn will serve his eighth term in Congress. He began serving Colorado's 5th Congressional District in 2007. He currently serves on the House Armed Services Committee and is the Ranking Member of the Readiness Subcommittee, which has oversight of around $300 billion of military spending.

Newcomer Jillian Freeland is a private practice midwife who currently serves on a wide array of boards in El Paso County. As a healthcare provider, her platform focused on her intention to "fight for complete healthcare coverage; that means access to every necessary service regardless of employment status."
