Indiana Jones and the bed and breakfast where he lived

ANTONITO — Out in Antonito there's an old house that has been standing since 1888; impressive durability of the construct aside, about 100 years after it was built, the ancient abode served as the childhood home to the fictional (yet famous) adventurer Indiana Jones and was a set piece in the third installment to that franchise, "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade."

Near the beginning of the movie a young Indiana Jones, played by River Phoenix, has several scenes in the house that help to set up the back story of where and when the action oriented archaeologist obtained his signature fedora.

The house has since been kept by a number of individuals, eventually turning into an Indiana Jones themed Bed and Breakfast.

Sabra Young, the current owner of home for three years now, has been working diligently to share the structure's movie magic with any and all visitors.

Each room in the bed and breakfast has a copy of The Last Crusade that she encourages guests to watch, "as homework" before retiring for the evening. Sabra says part of the fun for her is discussing the film and its scenes that take place inside the house, the next morning at breakfast.

"It's a lot of fun when people share that excitement with me," Sabra commented, "I get to share my nerd-dom again!"

The house, being well over 100 years old, requires some renovations and general TLC. It is currently closed until early 2021.

Sabra hopes at some point to get a historical designation for the old building, which could help secure funding to preserve it for others to see in the future.
