COLORADO SPRINGS – Tonight one 8-year-old Colorado Springs local who has been dealing with leukemia since April of this year, was surprised by an outpouring of love from the community.
Jalen Thompson, who is 7 months into his 3 year treatment, loves Christmas, and everything around it, including lights.
But this year, since the family is moving soon, they couldn’t decorate.
So Children’s Hospital Colorado and Sturgeon electric stepped in, and strung up about 3,000 lights, all over his house and the giant pine out front.
It’s a gesture of support that is not only making Jalen’s Christmas wishes come true, but is showing him and his family that they have people looking out for them.
“I cant explain the feelings that i feel inside and the knowledge that we’re not alone,” said Chad, Jalen’s father.
“This is just amazing to come home and see this,” agreed Jalen.
The event left Jalen, who apparently is usually pretty talkative, nearly speechless.
He also let us know that this will MAKE he and his family’s Christmas and means a lot.
If that wasn’t enough happiness, the event also serves as the kickoff for the Children’s Hospital Give comfort and Joy fundraising campaign which sends proceeds to the Children’s Hospital.
