(CITY OF PUEBLO) – Personal firework usage may be currently banned across much of southern Colorado, but there are still chances people will light them off.

Knowing that, Pueblo teen Aaden Valdez, who lost four fingers and an eye in a fireworks accident in 2017, is making effort to make sure that anyone and everyone knows how to safely handle fireworks. His only hope, to prevent others from suffering a similar accident.

“I just want to spread the word, so that it doesn’t happen to any other kids. For a second there I thought I had lost my life,” commented Aaden.

Valdez has partnered with local first responders to make a firework safety PSA and has been handing out safety glasses and safety tip coloring books.

He and partners will continue to handout safety gear at Pueblo’s Riverwalk 4th of July celebration.
