(COLORADO SPRINGS) – For the third summer in a row, the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) is bringing together people and beer, using the proceeds to help save homeless pups and dogs.

“Colorado is very famous for both loving dogs and loving pets, and of course all the breweries. So two summers ago we had the idea to have Happy Tails Happy Hours (HTHH),” commented Gretchen Pressley, the communications manager for the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.

It’s an event that dog and beer enthusiasts can, did, and do get behind.

“We’re contributing to supporting animals and animal rescues by drinking beer,” commented one happy hour participant.

“I mean how much better does it get,” said another participant.

During each HTHH, a dollar from each beer sold goes towards the Humane Society, “So, of course, this money goes not only to the care of these animals [at the shelter], but to all of our lifesaving programs,” stated Pressley.

The happy hours are hosted at partnered breweries around town and have been a significant source of donations in the past, “These events have been so successful at raising money, I think we’ve raised several thousand dollars in one night. It’s great to see so many coming out to support the cause.”

So, before you decide how you’ll spend your evening, the HSPPR would like to make a suggestion.

“Maybe do something you were going to do anyway, which is get together with friends and family, drink a good beer, but also you’re helping out the homeless pets,” finished Pressley.
