PUEBLO — 2020 is going to be a big year for the Home of Heroes.

The City of Pueblo is turning 150 years old. Pueblo became a city in 1870.

Even though Pueblo officially gained township on March 22, organizers are having a kick-off celebration Friday at the El Pueblo Museum starting at 5 p.m.

"We want everyone in the state to be proud of what we are doing down here and that 150 years is a long time and we have been successful for most of that, I am sure," Pueblo Downtown Association President TJ Wright said.

The celebration will feature guest speakers, including Pueblo Mayor Nick Gradisar.

The Pueblo Downtown Association is inviting community members to add events to their website specifically created to celebrate the occasion throughout the year.

Pueblo will also highlight local restaurants throughout March 2020 with $18.70 specials.
