PUEBLO WEST — Pueblo voters approved a tax increase for the Pueblo West Fire Dept.

Now the real work begins.

The department said it will start working on hiring at least 20 new, full-time firefighters. Construction on a new fire station on the south side of the district will begin soon as well. The hope is to have it completed by 2022.

The one percent increase in sales tax was approved by voters for the next ten years.
