COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — The cold weather can be deadly and exposure to the skin can lead to frostbite within minutes.

While we have been reporting on the organizations helping the less fortunate and homeless in our community, unfortunately, the cold has taken the life of two men.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is reporting that a 42-year-old man was found dead near a power transformer on Citadel Drive around 2:20 p.m. Thursday. Officers noted a layer of snow over the man's belongings indicating he had been there for some time probably looking for warmth.

Also on Thursday officers responded to Arrawanna Street for a possible dead man at a homeless camp in the area.

Medical personnel that arrived at the scene noticed signs of life and transported the man to a local hospital. The man passed away later that day, according to Colorado Springs Police.

There is no information as to the identity of these two men at this time.
