COLORADO SPRINGS — Monday, a special stamp honoring the late broadcast journalist Gwen Ifill was unveiled in Colorado Springs.
The US Postal Service and the Colorado Springs chapter of Links Incorporated are honoring her memory with the commemorative stamp.
Ifill was among the first African Americans to hold prominent positions in both broadcast and print. She worked for the Washington Post, New York Times, and was also the co-anchor and managing editor of PBS Newshour.
"The fact that we are just recognizing and honoring black professionals in all walks of life is just a tribute to the contributions of African Americans," Deborah Hendrix, President of the Colorado Springs Chapter of the Links, said.
The official unveiling of the Ifill stamp happened last month in Washington.
