COLORADO SPRINGS — Work is about to begin on the next chapter of national defense in Colorado Springs.

A groundbreaking is set for Wednesday morning on a new building that will house a "space war fighting facility" near the Colorado Springs Airport.

The state of the art research and development center comes with a price tag of more than $100 million but is expected to attract a lot of talent.

"They'll come from all over. We'll have people moving here from our other corporate locations. We'll hire locally and hire from other places around the country," Jean Micahel, Space Enterprise and War Fighting said.

The facility is scheduled to be up and running by Spring 2022.
