COLORADO SPRINGS — Today was "Small Business Saturday."
Despite big shopping days like Black Friday getting an extension into Thanksgiving and even the day before, plenty of people made their way to downtown Colorado Springs.
Freebies were available to shoppers, but many were gone within minutes of stores opening.
"People like to support small businesses because it gives them a sense of community and more of every dollar they spend locally stays in the local economy, so it's kind of a win for everybody," said Laurel Prud'homme, VP of Downtown Partnership.
Some of the discounts and deals at local stores will continue through the holiday shopping season.
