Shooting at Citadel Mall kills 2, injures 2 others

COLORADO SPRINGS — 2 people are dead after a shooting at Citadel Mall on Friday night. 2 others were injured.

The police identified the 2 killed as 20-year-old Jeremiah Brown and 21-year-old Matthew Westrich of Colorado Springs, and both deaths were ruled homicides.

Colorado Springs Police are investigating the shooting, and they say the shooting happened after two people had an altercation in the parking lot of the Dillard's/Burlington Coat Factory. There were a large number of people in this parking lot, and during that altercation, shots were fired.

4 people were hit by the shots, and police say all 4 were taken by personal vehicles to hospitals. Of the 4 hit, 1 man and woman were injured, while 2 other men passed away from their injuries.

The 2 deaths mark the 15th and 16th homicide investigations in Colorado Springs this year, up from 5 at this time last year.
