CANON CITY — Visitors to the Royal Gorge have a rare opportunity right now.

The owner of the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park is letting visitors drive on the bridge, something that has not been done since 2013.

This is being done currently to give folks something to do during the COVID-19 outbreak.

"We know that people want to get out. They want to do things but they want to do it as safe as possible and this is safe. We are following all the state of Colorado ordinances, we are following all the CDC guidelines," said Peggy Gair.

The bridge and park are open but facilities, including rides, shops, and bathrooms are closed.

The drive over the bridge will cost $20.
