PUEBLO — The federal government is giving the Pueblo Police Department a nice chunk of change.

The department will receive nearly $100,000 and plans to use the money to buy dart technology, which means tracking devices to follow stolen vehicles. Additional vehicle chasing technology and computers will also be purchased.

"The thing with technology, you can do a lot more. You basically increase the capabilities and the operational capacity you can do and use and so it's better," said Sgt. Franklyn Ortega.

The money will still have to be approved by Pueblo City Council.

The department hopes to have all of the equipment operational by the end of the year.
