PUEBLO — Officials in Pueblo are currently working on their plans for the community to be part of the state's 5-star program.

Pueblo plans on sending its proposal to the state within the next 10 days.

In the meantime, the city and county are asking businesses to put their 5-star program plans together for review.

Details expected to be included are social distancing measures, protocols to check symptoms of employees each day, and having proper ventilation.

"Restaurants in particular and gyms are hurting throughout this pandemic. Inside dining has been closed down, so if they can even be allowed to open, even on a limited basis, they should be allowed to do so," Pueblo Mayor Nick Gradisar said.

If Pueblo gets approved, businesses can operate at Level Orange on the COVID-19 dial.
