Pueblo man formally charged with Murder in killing of his mother

PUEBLO — The Pueblo man accused of killing and dismembering his mother has been formally charged with First Degree Murder.

36-year-old Anthony Cuevas made a video appearance Wednesday morning in Pueblo to hear the charges against him.

Pueblo Police said Cuevas is the man seen in surveillance video throwing way a suitcase that held his mother's body. The department said Maria Cuevas-Garcia had her head, hands, and feet removed and police are still searching for those body parts.

Cuevas' wife, Melanie remains a person of interest in the case.

Cuevas will be back in court next week.
