PUEBLO — Pueblo is hitting its stride to stardom this week when the reality show Undercover Billionaire premiers for season two on Wednesday night on the Discovery Channel.

Undercover Billionaire is meant to embody "the American Dream" according to the Owner of Wake Up Pueblo, Matt Smith. The show approached him under an alias pretending to film a documentary about Pueblo West. Then, he unknowingly built the modern marketing agency, Wake Up Pueblo, with billionaire and author Grant Cardone. In each season, a secret billionaire is dropped in a brand new community with $100 to their name. They then try and build a million-dollar company within 90 days.

“Somehow they got pushed to me as a Pueblo passionate person -- somebody that really loves this community," said Smith. "I was honored to be a part of it and honored to showcase just how amazing Pueblo is.”

Wake Up Pueblo works to help their clients market in new and inventive ways, a very unique agency to Pueblo.

“It was a movement to help grow our community, help highlight how cool Pueblo is and tell stories better than people can do themselves," said Smith.

The company itself is young, but so is the staff. Colorado State University Pueblo President Timothy Mottet stopped by Wake Up Pueblo and expressed how important he believes it is that Pueblo continues building businesses that appeal to college graduates. Roughly 90% of Wake Up Pueblo's employees are CSU Pueblo alumni.

“This organization I think represents the innovation and the spirit of what a lot of our students are attracted to, so I’m very excited about it," said Mottet.

Smith is mostly excited for the show to air, so Pueblo can get some positive publicity.

“We were able to showcase so many different businesses - From the farms, to local businesses, to owners, to people who have been here forever, and truly get to highlight that! So, I’m excited for the world to see how amazing that Pueblo, Colorado is!”

The show kicks off Jan. 6 at 6 p.m. MST on Discovery channel and airs every Wednesday, for a total of 14 episodes.
