MANITOU SPRINGS — Fans of the Manitou Incline gathered Saturday morning to voice their complaints about the popular trail remaining closed.

The Incline has been closed for months due to COVID-19, and Manitou Springs Mayor John Graham says it still not safe to reopen.

For the "protest hike," as it is being referred to, there were actually no group gatherings. Instead, hikers trickled through and up the trail.

"The goal is to show Manitou Springs that this trail can be open and can be hiked in a safe way," avid incliner, Mark Rickman said.

The Mayor said that before the incline can reopen, problems like overcrowding, a lack of parking, and environmental impacts will need to be addressed.
