Police: Sexually Violent Predator moves to east Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Police Department issued a notification Wednesday of a sexually violent predator who moved to a new address in the city. The community notification is in accordance with Colorado law concerning this type of offender.

The department said 62-year-old Steven John Long is registered in the 2100 block of Robin Drive, off Constitution Avenue and Union Boulevard.

Long's criminal history provided by the department shows he was convicted of Indecent Assault and Battery in 2003 on a child under 14 in Haverhill, Massachusetts. He was also convicted in Unlawful Sexual Contact in 2010 in Lewiston, Maine.

In Colorado, Long was convicted of Reckless Endangerment and Firing Woods/Prairie in 2015 and Harassment in 2019, both in Fremont County.

He is described as being 6'2" tall and weighing 190 pounds with brown/gray hair and brown eyes. He is one of 20 SVPs registered with the police department.

Under Colorado law, law enforcement agencies are required to notify the community when a SVP moves into the area.
