COLORADO SPRINGS — Organizers planned to present a petition to Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser Tuesday.

Nearly 2,000 people signed the petition that is asking for an independent investigation into the officer-involved shooting that killed 19-year-old De'Von Bailey.

The creator of the petition, Shaun Walls, said it also proposes the creation of a citizen review board to monitor future investigations into police misconduct.

The Bailey family says Springs Police, the Sheriff's Office, and the District Attorney's Office work too closely together to be unbiased in their investigation.
