TELLER COUNTY — Just before 9 p.m. Friday night, two Teller County deputies encountered a man near the intersection of Highway 94 and Trout Creek Rd.

The man matched the description of someone who was wanted for Felony Menacing, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said.

The man pointed a gun at the deputies and then failed to comply with their commands. One deputy fired at least one round that struck the man, the Sheriff's Office said.

The man was taken to a local hospital with injuries.

The two deputies involved in the incident were uninjured and have been placed on routine administrative leave in accordance with policy.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is the lead investigative agency for this shooting.

The investigation is ongoing and no further details have been released at this time.
