MONTE VISTA — A 4-year-old dog that has been at a Monte Vista shelter for over 720 days has finally found his forever home.

Drools is a neutered pitbull/boxer mix and he loves to snuggle. The shelter said he has been there for at least 720 days and was finally adopted on his 729th day at the shelter!

"After waiting almost 2 years to the day, we could not be more ecstatic to announce that sweet Drools has finally found his forever person. He is going to an amazing home about 4 hours away where he will live his best life as an only pet with a big yard to run and play in," the shelter posted on their Facebook.

The shelter has been trying to get him adopted with Facebook videos and Kacey Widetich, the founder and executive director of Relay For Rescue, even moved into the shelter to help get him a home.

Drools spent his last day at the shelter Wednesday and went home with his new owner.
