Manitou Police ask for public's help with fatal motorcycle crash investigation

MANITOU SPRINGS — The Manitou Springs Police Department is asking for the public's help with an investigation into a fatal motorcycle accident.

Just before midnight on Sept. 4, Manitou officers responded to a traffic accident on W. Highway 24 near the Manitou Avenue overpass.

The department said their initial investigation determined the accident to be a single vehicle, motorcycle crash that resulted in the death of 41-year-old Justin Lawahn Guthrie.

Now, the department said the follow up investigation determined a second vehicle was possibly involved.

The department is now asking for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or was in the area of the crash to contact them at (719) 390-5555 or by email at arathbun@comsgov.com.
