COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Police Department arrested a man trying to evade officers by jumping off an apartment building's roof onto an RV in a parking lot Sunday afternoon.

CSPD said it received a disturbance call in the 3600 block of Marion Drive and learned that 32-year-old Bryan Anthony Batts approached a woman in the area to ask if there were any officers nearby.

The woman told Batts that there were officers in the area and the man pushed past her to enter an apartment building. Police said they attempted contact when Batts jumped out of the 2nd story apartment window, which was 25 feet from the ground.

Batts ran to another apartment complex and entered another apartment on the 3rd floor, according to CSPD. Police said a perimeter was set up around the apartment building.

Authorities said Batts climbed out of a window and accessed the roof of the building. Batts then jumped off the roof, which was 50 feet high, onto the roof of an RV in a parking lot.

Batts sustained no life-threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital, according to police.

CSPD said Batts had three active no-bond felony warrants for narcotics violations out of El Paso County. He is also being served a summons for Obstruction with other summonses for unrelated cases.

Police said other people involved were issued summonses for Aiding/Abetting a Fugitive from Justice with a mandatory court appearance for providing false information to officers.
