DENVER — It may still be summer, but winter in Colorado will be here soon enough.
Now that it's September, drivers who use I-70 need to have snow tires or carry some sort of traction device like chains or tire socks at all times if they don't have four wheel or all wheel drive.
Governor Jared Polis signed the law in May and it covers the stretch of I-70 from Dotsero to Morrison.
The new law also increased the minimum tire tread requirements to 3/16 of an inch.
The law will be in effect until May 31st of next year.
