According to Colorado State Patrol, a hazmat spill has closed southbound I-25 in Colorado Springs.
CDOT said the closure is between Northgate Blvd. and Interquest Parkway. CSP tweeted the area will reopen no earlier than 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
Emergency crews have responded to the scene.
According to State Patrol, the material spilled is ammonium nitrate. The vehicle has reportedly been spilling the substance since Larkspur.
News 5 has a crew attempting to get to the scene, but the traffic backups are making that difficult. We will update this story once we obtain more information.
